A Just Minerals Transition in Asia and Europe

A central demand of climate movements has been to move to ‘100% renewable energy’, yet there is potential for widespread destruction and human rights abuses by the extraction of so-called ‘transition minerals’. Based on newly published research (with case studies from Indonesia & the Philippines) we will explore this extractivism and develop a deeper understanding of the initiatives needed to ensure just global supply chains for renewable energy technologies, and address the fundamental societal change needed to reduce our unsustainable material consumption.
