This workshop will bring together the perspectives of food sovereignty and climate justice, focusing on seed and food justice movements across Asia and Europe, as well as mutual aid.
The second part of the workshop includes a practical demonstration on seed saving, storing and sowing, as well as on the growing practice of pop-up community pantries providing nutrition and sustenance. This workshop will therefore arm participants with knowledge about existing seed, food and community sovereignty efforts, which have only grown under the global COVID-19 pandemic. It will also prepare participants for the moment of collective seed planting in the final day’s “We commit” session, as well as inspire planting seeds for collective care and mutual aid at a time when our active solidarity for one another is needed on a scale never before seen.
This session is meant as a primer for people who are new to seed and soil politics, and will provide tangible examples of social and climate adaptation through seed sovereignty movements and collective social care in different parts of the world.
